WNBA: Indiana Fever gets a close win against Chicago Sky

Saturday afternoon Indiana Fever took on Chicago Sky at the Gamebridge field house in Indiana to get a close win of 71-70.


The attraction towards this game was very high and intense because of the 3 rookie first rounders. Kamilla Cordoso who plays center, Angel Reese who plays forward for the sky and Caitlin Clark who plays guard for The Fever. They All played against each other in college and now this is the first game in the WNBA with all of them on the court.

In the first quarter with six minutes left Aaliyah Boston a forward for the Indiana fever sinks a float jump shot to make the score 7-6. The Fever went on a 10-0 run with two minutes left in the first quarter when Naylssa Smith a forward from the fever was fouled and went to the line and shot two free throws to put the fever up 17-10. With 56 seconds left Komilla Cordoso makes a layup to make the score 14-17.


In the second quarter with five minutes left Dana Evans a guard from Chicago Sky hit a three pointer to tie the game 24-24. Late in the second quarter right before the half Kelsey Mitchel a gaurd from the fever hit a jump shot to extend their lead to 33-35.


Deep in the third quarter with three minutes left Aaliyah Boston makes a two pointer giving the Fever a 6 point lead to 54-49. With six seconds in the fourth quarter Marina Mabrey was fouled and went to the free throw line and made both but that was good for Chicago as they fail short to Indiana 71-70.


Caitlin Clark ended the game with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Kelsey Mitchell ended the game with 18 points , 2 rebounds and 2 assist.


After the game Caitlin talked about her and the team performance. “It was great, and I think it came at a really great time," Clark said after winning the inaugural Commissioner's Cup game. “Our fans were awesome. They were energized. You know we really didn't shoot the ball well at all collectively as a team and you know sometimes that's hard for the fans“
