South Carolina gets a huge win over Iowa to win the NCAA Women's National Championship

The Gamecocks and Dawn Staley ended this season with a bang by wining 87-75 against Iowa to win the national championship. South Carolina finished this season 39-0 with a championship such a perfect undefeated season for the GameCocks.

Sunday Afternoon The No.1 seed South Carolina Gamecocks took on the No.1 seed Iowa Hawkeyes. The competitiveness from both teams was very real and this game defiantly lived up to the hype.


In the start of the game iowa jumped out on top with a 7-0 lead. Caitlin Clark scored 13 points in a row putting the Hawkeyes ahead at 20-9. Clark scored 18 points in the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter South Carolina went on a 20-0 run tie the game 27-27. Late in the quarter both teams was scoring back in forth as the gamecocks led 49-47 at halftime. In the 2nd half the gamecocks went on an amazing run leading the game all the way to end the game 87-75 wining the national championship.


South Carolina senior center Kamilla Cardosa was named MVP as she ended the game 15 points and 17 rebounds. Freshman gaurd Tessa Johnson led to team with 19 points and Guard Te-Hina PaoPao ended the game with 14 points.


South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley is an amazing coach with 3 championships under her belt and an undefeated season of 39-0. Staley was very emotional after the game. We serve an unbelievable God," Staley said. Dawn also gave props to Caitlin Clark. ''I want to personally thank Caitlin Clark for lifting up our sport,” Staley said. “She carried a heavy load for our sport... She’s gonna lift [the WNBA] up... You are one of the GOATs of our game.”
