Movie Review: The Iron Claw

The Iron Claw is a movie based on a true story about a wrestling family named the Von Erich’s and their struggles and tragedies as a family while pursuing their dream. The Iron Claw Premiered in theater on December 22,2023 it grossed $44 million and had some positive reviews. This film stars Zac Effron as Kevin Von Enerich. it’s also streaming on HBO Max Right now.



In this movie Jack Von Erich’s was a three time world Champion wrestler in the 50’s and 60s and the owner of the world class championship wrestling back in 1979. Jack and his wife Doris had 5 Boys Jack Jr who died when he was kid, Kevin and David who already was taking there father footsteps and wrestled together , Kerry a striving discus thrower and Mike a aspiring musician.

In the 1980’s Kevin and David was the dynamic Tag team wrestling duo. While after one of Kevin fights he meets Pam who then find interest in Kevin and ask him out on a date. The 2 becomes so connected and ended up being in a relationship. While the Von Enrichs was being successful in the wrestling industry kerry dreams of being a discus thrower was crushed has been crushed as the Olympics was cancelled. So in 1983 joined his brothers Kevin , David and Mike to all wrestle together.


The brothers went on a wining streak winning belts and titles. During this time Kevin had also got married to Pam and had a kid. in 1984 while David was traveling in Japan for a tournament he Suddenly died from enteritis at the age of 25. This tragedy shocked the family in a tremendous way. While going through that Kerry agreed to fight Ric Flair for the world championship and actually winning the belt. In 1987 Mike ended up overdosing on pills at the age 23. The horrible tragedy left Kerry and Kevin thinking the Von Erich’s curse was really real. From the pressure of dealing with boxing and the lost of his brothers in 1993 Kerry then committed suicide at the age of 33 leaving Kevin all alone as the last living brother.


Kevin then sold the family business WWCW(World Class Championship wrestling) and stared to focused on his wife pam and his 2 sons. The von-Erich’s will go down as the greatest wrestling family their ever was.
