Movie Review: Gran Turismo

The Gran Turismo movie is based off a video game series that was released in 1997 and the latest released was March 4,2022. Gran Turismo is a racing simulation game that the players must maneuver as a car to compete against other racers. The movie is very similar to the video game.

Gran Turismo was released August 11, 2023 it stars Archie Madekwe who plays as Jann Mardenborough a young teen who works in retail and is a huge fan of the Gran Turismo video game and has plans to be a professional racer. David Harbour who plays Jack Salter a professional racer who is now a mechanic. Also Dijmon Housou who plays Steve a former football player and Jann's dad. Genri Halliwell plays Lesley Janns mother and Maeve Courtier-Lilley as Adurey Jann's love interest.

In this movie Jann spends hours playing the Gran Turismo video game and as time is running out his parents are bugging him about what do he want to do with his life. Jann has hopes and dreams of becoming a professional race car driver but his parents does not like that plan so they encourage him to college but he does not want to. Nissan is a popular car on the video game so Nissan put out a challenge and a offer to all of the best gamers all around the world. The challenge was who ever was the best gamer gets to be apart of GT academy. Gran Turismo academy is a camp for all of the skilled players to train and become a real Professional racer. Jann was chosen to go to the camp to learn and train on how to be a racer. When Jann got to GT academy he was learning and preparing during the camp their was elimination Jann made the top 5. So Jann started racing all around the world in different countries against professionals. while touring the world Jann got back in contact with an old friend that he genuinely liked and connected with name Audrey. While Jann was in Tokyo, Japan getting ready for a race he had there he contacted Audrey and they linked up in Japan to explore Tokyo. That day was so magical for the 2 they then ended up being in a relationship. Jann become real good after a lot of trial and errors and won the whole tournament and Jann dreams of being a racer was completed.

On the first night the Gran Turismo movie released in theaters it gross $8 million in opening day and is now grossed $21 million in the United States. Gran Turismo is such a good movie it is very interesting especially if you played the video game before.
